It’s burger time!
I have been experimenting with turnips and vegetarian patties lately. Turnips have a very strong taste of niceness 🙂 I cannot really describe it, but it tastes kind of cozy and golden, maybe a bit like potatoes but they keep their crunch after cooking. Just find out for yourself.
The first patties I made were made out of two not too small turnips, 100g of lentils and one egg, they had a very nice taste, but fell apart in the pan. The ones after tasted a lot like chickpeas, but sticked together. Thus the master recipe is:
- 3 big turnips, grated
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 small tin of chickpeas (canned)
- 50g of red lentils
- 2 cloves of garlic
- some Feta cheese
- Pepper,salt,seasoning you like
- Olive Oil
First peel the turnips and grate them (the bigger, the crunchier, but also more difficult to stick together). Cook the lentils, smash the chickpeas with the garlic until both are a puree and add the lentils, turnips, Feta cheese and seasoning.
You could also mix a sip of olive oil in.
Because I got sick of all the oil in the pan when frying them, I now put them in the oven first (200°C, 15min each side) and then fried them in little oil for a little while.
You can also layer them with some cheese in your pan, if you want to eat them on a burger.
My burger is made with a selfmade roll, mustard, ketchup, creamcheese, the pattie, tomato, fried aubergine and Cheese!
I hope you enjoy the patties and sorry for the unfocused pictures, I was in a hurry =)…
